German and UK Representatives Tour Cookeville
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – As visitor development grows stronger in Putnam County, so do the relationships between the Cookeville-Putnam County Visitors’ Bureau and the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development. In addition to divisions in Tennessee, TDTD also boasts representatives in Germany and the United Kingdom. Wolfgang Streitborger from TDTD’s German office and David Nicholson with the UK office visited Cookeville recently for an overview of area tourism assets.
Due to scheduling, a brief meeting and walking tour of downtown Cookeville was provided by Cookeville-Putnam County Visitors’ Bureau staff members Zach Ledbetter, vice president of visitor development and Molly Brown, director of public relations and marketing.
Streitborger and Nicholson were provided an overview of visitor-driven attractions and activities for Putnam County overall.
“The more information and exposure they have to Cookeville-Putnam County and our assets, the more top-of-mind we will be for them as they receive inquiries from potential guests, group tour operators, and international journalists,” said Ledbetter.
“International guests are more committed to their trip,” added Ledbetter. “They have traveled an extensive distance and are willing to fully immerse themselves in the experience, spending more and staying longer.”
Both TDTD international representatives were impressed with the assets presented as well as the work being done to market those assets. Each asked questions, took photos, and offered insights as to how the visitors’ bureau can attract more international guests. Discussions are already underway regarding a next visit for a more extensive tour.
